Pair-Programming Phone Screen

Collaborative live coding with one engineer in a realistic IDE, not a bare pad

What this round is judged on

  • Production-grade code · clean structure, naming, error/edge-case handling, tests
  • Collaboration · asks clarifying questions, thinks aloud, works with the interviewer
  • Correctness · a working, maintainable solution
  • Follow-up extensibility · absorbs an added feature or edge case gracefully

What happens in each stage
Recruiter screen
~30 min spoken call. Recruiter probes mission resonance ("increase economic freedom"), crypto interest/experience, alignment with the cultural tenets, and level fit.
Online assessment (CodeSignal)
Automated, not live: ~70 min, roughly 3-4 algorithm problems (one warm-up + medium problems). Some frontend/full-stack pipelines skip straight to a pair-programming screen. Not simulated as a live round here.
Technical / pair-programming phone screen
~60 min live coding with one engineer in a realistic IDE/repo environment; one problem built collaboratively, graded on code quality and follow-up extensions.
Virtual onsite ("full loop")
Modal composition: two pair-programming/coding rounds (~90 min each, the core of the loop), one system-design round (~60 min, mid/senior), and one behavioral/values round (~30 min, often with the hiring manager). Composition varies by level and org.
Hiring-committee debrief
Interviewers vote "hell yes" or no; a "maybe" rounds down to a no. Per the Top Talent tenet they ask whether the candidate will raise the team average before making an offer.
