Final-round fit conversation (Partner / MDP)

With a Partner or Managing Director & Partner this runs longer and feels like a genuine two-way conversation about your story and motivations

What they actually ask

The question shapes this round uses. Larpy does not read these out. It builds each one from your own resume, because the generic version is the one you have already rehearsed.

  • Why BCG, and why not McKinsey or Bain? What makes BCG different for you?
  • Walk me through your story and what led you here.
  • Tell me about your proudest accomplishment and your specific role in it.
  • Tell me about a time you took initiative or went beyond what was expected.
  • Where do you see yourself in five years?
  • Tell me about a time you worked with a difficult person or client.
  • Do you have any questions for me?

What this round is judged on

  • Motivation & fit · specific, credible 'why BCG', not paste-able onto any firm
  • Maturity & presence · executive poise, would represent BCG to a client
  • Leadership & ownership · authentic, high-impact stories you clearly owned
  • Self-awareness · honest reflection on failure and growth
  • Communication · structured, concise, engaging under follow-up

What happens in each stage
Application & CV screen
Resume plus cover letter (a cover letter is still commonly requested at BCG), reviewed by recruiting. Screens for academics, brand-name experience, and demonstrated leadership/impact.
Online assessment (not simulated here)
Region- and year-dependent, and the most likely-to-be-outdated element. BCG now commonly uses the 'BCG Online Case' featuring 'Casey,' a chatbot-driven interactive case; historically it used pymetrics gamified tests and the BCG Potential Test. Which one you hit varies by office/cohort. This is not a spoken round and is out of scope for this product.
First-round interviews
Typically 2 interviews, ~40-45 min each, with consultants / project leaders. Each interview bundles a short fit/experience portion (~first 10-15 min) followed by a case (~25-30 min). BCG does not run a standalone fit-only round at first stage; the fit lives at the front of each case interview.
Final-round interviews
Typically 2-3 interviews, ~45 min each, with Partners / Managing Directors & Partners. Fit + case again bundled, with fit weighted more heavily ('would I staff this person / put them in front of a client'). Some offices add a written case or group exercise (region-dependent).
Decision
Usually communicated within days to ~2 weeks after the final round.
